With email or SMS, every change requires another message. Wallet passes update dynamically pricing, details, offers or status changes without reissuing or re-sending.
Emails rely on inbox behaviour. Texts rely on timing. Wallet passes can trigger native lock-screen notifications and location-based alerts, increasing the likelihood your message is seen at the right moment.
Every SMS costs per send. Large email databases require ongoing campaign volume. Wallet passes are issued once and updated as needed, reducing repeated messaging costs while maintaining engagement.

Once you have that you are ready to create passes. You can do this from within Studio or via the API. When you have passes you can update them or send notifications, again, either from within Studio or via the API.
Smartix Studio is your visual hub where you design, create and manage your Apple and Google Wallet passes. It is also where you manage your account, users, billing, get support and download our Apps.
The core functionality is our WYSIWYG editor is used to create your own branded pass templates from which your passes are created. Once you have your template you can create test passes with a single click, or upload data to issue live passes in bulk (You can also do this via the API).
Issued passes can be updated, managed and have notifications sent to individuals, groups or all passes.
Whilst most larger businesses will have their own scanning capability, smaller businesses and those new to Wallet Passes may not have any existing setup.
Smartix Scan is an App (iOS and Android) which can scan and interact with our Managed Passes. For example, you can scan a customer's loyalty card and add points or validate entry to an event.
Smartix offers three types of base pass templates: Standard Passes where you control the barcode content and provide your own scanning infastructure. Managed Passes where we manage the barcode content so that it is compatible with Smartix Scan so that you can use it to validate and interact with these passes.
We also offer Specialist Passes which may require additional functionality such as our UK Rail tickets where we have created fully compliant UK Rail Ticket pass format which include auto-generated back-of pass visual itinerary from your raw data. On request we can provision other specialist passes if our standard offering does not meet your requirements.
Short answer is no.
Longer answer is that you do not need one and really you do not want one... You access Smartix API with simple HTTP requests with your pass data as JSON. Adding an SDK would add abstraction, but no simplification or additional functionality - just code bloat.
Yes! Whilst we have slightly different charging models for some of our Managed Passes in general it is FREE to create passes. We charge for updates and notifications that you wish to send to installed passes.
Update and notification fees do not apply to Test passes. There is never a cost associated with any test pass. However, test passes only have a 48 hour lifespan. This avoids the need for you to manually delete test passes to avoid clutter in your account.
